Drum Circle and Workshop with Rahul Bader

Drummers and Shakers,

Spring into the new season with rhythm!

Drumming is considered one of the most ancient tools used to celebrate, honor the planet, unite and gather. Come join us every Wednesday at Temple 23 in Liberty Village, for a weekly drum workshop hosted by Rahul Bader and explore the amazing world of rhythm.

We will learn basics of hand technique, speaking rhythm, playing with others and improvisation. As it is a group setting, we have the ability to explore playing in drum circles and the interplay of the various parts.

Topics:

-Drums in history
-Basic Hand Techniques on Djembe
-Tempo
-Working with time signatures
-Connecting with the Body’s Rhythm
-Speaking rhythm
-Language of drum circles
-Playing with World Percussion (shakers, bells, tambourines, pitched percussion)
-Improvisation

The lessons will be 1 hour in length. No previous drumming experience necessary! These weekly workshops will be ongoing drop-ins this spring, and newcomers are always welcome. It is encouraged to bring your own drum! Drums will be available for those who need, and lots of other world percussion instruments will be provided.
